Tonight (7/26): Session at The Republican

Monday's don't have to suck. At least not the last Monday of each month when The Republican (State St. and 900 South) hosts traditional Irish musicians for a session. Come down and have a pint this evening. It will be a good warm up for next Sunday's Utah Irish Music Fest at Deer Valley.

Utah Irish Music Festival

This August 1 The Hibernian Society is helping to sponsor the first-ever Utah Irish Music Festival. It's a day-long event of music, food and craft booths.  The festival runs from 12-8 p.m. at Deer Valley's beautiful outdoor amphitheatre.

Tickets can be purchased through www.smithtix.com. The cost is $15 for adults and $5 for children 6-12.  Full details on the festival can be seen at http://www.myspace.com/irishmusicfestival. The line up includes many Utah acts including The Wailing O'Sheas, The California Celts & Slaymaker Hill. There will be beer gardens, a kids play zone, vendors, raffles & prizes.

The Utah Irish Music Festival was put together by Rick Butler, of the Utah band Swagger, which helped the Hibernian Society out with our parade-saving fund-raiser last year.  We hope the Aug. 1 event is a big success so it can become an annual event.

The Hibernians will have a booth at the festival. Anyone interested in helping to staff the booth should call Ted McDonough.

*A pre-festival party is scheduled Saturday, July 31, at The Star Bar on Main Street, Park City, with a concert by The Wailing O'Sheas.
